Do vacuum grippers suck?

While it's often wise to follow your gut instinct, engineers who routinely choose mechanical over vacuum grippers should think again, contends robotics expert, Wade Leslie.

Mr Leslie's robotics advisory service, Robotize, will discuss the pros and cons of both gripper types at Melbourne Materials Handling, when the trade show runs from April 20 to 22.

"Of course, if you are handling extremely fragile and expensive products, some apprehension regarding vacuum is warranted," Mr Leslie says. "In many cases, though, choosing vacuum over a mechanical gripper is a great decision."

NTP to launch new pallet mover at Melbourne Materials Handling

A new Jungheinrich pedestrian pallet mover will be launched by NTP Forklifts at Melbourne Materials Handling.

NTP national product manager Greg McNamara says, "The EME114 offers great productivity and flexibility from the most compact design in its class."
